Edward John Avery

Edward John Avery, 60, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at Vitas Innovative Hospice in Waterbury. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Linda (Helfrich) Avery.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1953, the son of Caroline (Kimler) Avery of Cheshire and the late Edward Joseph Avery. Ed was a 1971 Graduate of Cheshire High School. He was a retired Police Officer for the Town of Cheshire and was the owner and operator of SRT Industries in Southington. Ed was a member of the Southington Sportsmen’s Club.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter Kristen Hoover and husband Kyle of North Carolina and a son Edward James Avery and wife Jody of Cheshire, three grandchildren, David, Natalie and Addison Hoover, a sister Claudette Cordon of Torrington. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10 am at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. Southington. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington.
