

He was born on Sept. 7, 1972, in Schenectady, NY. He was the son of Carolyn A. Thomas of Schenectady, N.Y. Eric worked hard all his life. While he attended school, he also worked as a newspaper carrier and later at the L&M Supermarket where he was loved by his coworkers and supermarket patrons. He graduated with a BA in Business Administration from Siena College in 1994. He then worked as a tax accountant for the Ayco Company in Albany, NY. Upon moving to CT he worked for PriceWaterhouse Coopers, ACS/Xerox, and most recently United Technologies Corporation. In all of his work endeavors he was cherished and praised for his work ethic and always giving 110%. He was a welcome component of any team where he worked.
Eric was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church, where he attended mass regularly. Eric enjoyed sporting events. He was an avid New York Yankee baseball fan and a dedicated Washington Redskins football fan. He shared his love of these sports with his family and children. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed being by the water, boating, and fishing. He especially loved playing games and spending time with his wife and three wonderful children, who adored him.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his three young children, whom he loved with all his heart; Alexander, Angelina, and Isabella Thomas. He also leaves behind his sister Leandra Reineman of Schenectady, NY, his brothers-in-law and their wives, Marco and Merrie Della Porta (Fairfield, CT), and Alfonso and Gina Della Porta (NC). He also leaves behind very dear nieces and nephews, Nadia and Shannon Smith, Aiden, Lyla, Grayson, Sofia, and Luciano Della Porta. He also has pre-deceased several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Although Eric?s death was unanticipated, he was able to help others? lives with a generous gift of tissue donation.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St to St. Thomas Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Thomas Children Scholarship Fund, C/O New England Bank, 158 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489.
