MIDDLETOWN- Eugene D. Markie, 72, husband of Margaret (Englund) Markie, passed away on Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Bristol on August 19, 1940 he was the son of the late Alcide and Mabel (Labbie) Markie. He served in the US Army. A retired employee of New England Aircraft, he was also employed by Executive Office Supply and W.B. Mason. He enjoyed woodworking.

Besides his wife of 24 years, he is survived by his step children, Sheila Siena and her husband Philip, Dennis Kaper and his wife Teri all of Middletown, Robert Kaper and his wife Priscilla of Vernon, two brothers Ted Markie and his wife Patricia of Avon, Paul Markie and his fiancée Pamela Foldvary of Glastonbury, three sisters Mona Bachand and Diana Markie both of Farmington, Carol Zimmer of Southington, a grandson Mathew Siena and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Connie Daoust.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. in Southington. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hour will be Friday morning from 11 AM until the time of the funeral.
