Frances (Hill) Hurley, 84, of Southington, beloved wife of the late James C. Hurley, entered into eternal peace at her home on April 29, with her daughter holding her hand. Born in Middletown, CT, she was the daughter of the late Mae (O'Connell) and Edward J. Hill. She was graduated from Middletown High School with the class of 1950, and from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Fran worked at the Jerome Home and Plainville Convalescent Home. She had long wanted to be a nurse and treated her patients with compassion and skill
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Joan Hurley, and son-in-law, James McGetrick, her beloved grandsons, Daniel and Finnegan McGetrick of Southington, and her son, William (Bill) Hurley of Hebron. She also leaves her sister, Mary Jane McCarthy of Virginia Beach, VA, her brother, Edward J. Hill of Middletown, CT, and her twin sister, Margaret Kreitner of Cromwell, as well as dearly loved nieces, nephews and many beloved friends.
Fran loved animals, especially her cat, George. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and entertaining friends and family. She took a great deal of pride in setting a beautiful table, and was well known as an excellent cook. Fran loved the flowers she planted on her deck, which she could view from her kitchen, and which was known by some loved ones as Fran's Garden of Eden. The highlight of her year was the annual 4th of July family reunion, a time of love and good cheer.
