

Frances (Tanasi) Lyss, 94, of Southington, beloved widow of the late Leonard Lyss, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus. Frances was born on November 6, 1928 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Ciacero) Tanasi. Before her retirement, she worked as an administrative secretary for the State of Connecticut, Education Department, Division of Vocational and Technical Schools. She was also a secretary for the Maguire Corp. of New Britain. As a faithful communicant of St. Dominic’s Church, she was also a member of the Ladies Guild. She was also active at the Calendar House of Southington. In her leisure time, she enjoyed painting and won several prizes for her work in art shows she participated in. Her favorite sport was swimming. Frances is survived by her son, Robert Lyss of Los Angeles, California and her two grandchildren, Nikki and Matthew Lyss, children of her late son Ronald who passed away in 2014. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Dellaripa of Old Lyme, Connecticut and by her brother, Paul Tanasi of Fort Meyers, Florida and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 9:15 AM from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489 and at 10:00 AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd, Southington, CT 06489. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain. Calling hours for Frances will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
