Gary Reed Morton

Gary was born on May 26, 1955, at Bristol Hospital, the son of the late Frederick and Jane (Hills) Morton Jr. He was raised in Southington and was a proud graduate of Southington High School, class of 1974. Gary spent his career as a service manager for several car dealerships, starting at his father’s business, Fred Morton Chevrolet in Southington. Known for his dedication to his work, he enjoyed helping others and developed many lifelong connections in the industry.

An avid NASCAR enthusiast, Gary had a deep passion for cars and racing, and his love for music was reflected in his extensive guitar collection. His family was his heart, and he will be remembered for his kind spirit, laughter, sharp wit, and devotion to those he loved.

In addition to his wife, Patricia (Desroches), Gary is survived by his daughter, Ashley Cartagena and her husband, Juan, of Bristol; his brother, Frederick "Rick" Morton III and his wife, Diane, of Lebanon; two granddaughters, Jaylynn and Ava Cartagena; and several nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his son, Ryan Morton, and his brother, Jeffrey Morton.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church, 37 Main St., Southington. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Visitation will be on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
