Gaylord W. (Joe) Cotton, 79, formerly of Southington, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006 after a brief illness at New Britain General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Dowling) Cotton.
He was born August 11, 1926 in Dana, MA son of the late Howard and Alma (Joyner) Cotton. He had retired from Tufano Motor Car in New Britain, as a service manager where he had worked for 50 years Mr. Cotton was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy as a signal man.
He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Faith and Nick DeCarlo of Windsor Locks, a son and his wife Joseph and Barbara Cotton of VA, a daughter and her husband Candace and Jeffrey Long of New Hampshire, 2 step children, Virginia Renier and Charles Clark both of Bristol, He also leaves behind several grandchildren, David, Johnathan and Randilyn Lapointe of Bristol, Alexandria and Kyle Long of New Hampshire, Jessica Racine of VA., a sister Barbara, several nieces and nephews. Along with Bill and Judy Ludecke he leaves behind many friends. He was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth,Gladys and Arlene.
The Funeral will be held Tuesday 2 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours will be Monday 5-8 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Charity of the Donors choice. www.dellavecchiafh.com.
