Germaine J. (Labrecque) Boislard, 85, of Southington, a devoted wife, loving mother and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 after a lengthy illness and a short stay at The Summit at Plantsville.
Born on January 10, 1940 in Biddeford, Maine, Germaine was the daughter of the late Cleophas and Matilda (Goudreau) Labrecque. She was the beloved wife of Rene A. Boislard, moving to CT shortly after being married. They shared a beautiful life together raising their family and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 4th.
Germaine (also known as Geri to friends), lived her life focused on her family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her 7 grandchildren, showering them with love and fun times. She also loved cats, especially their beloved Nicole- a tabby who brought them so much love and joy. She was gifted with many talents, including knitting mittens for her children and grandchildren, sewing Halloween costumes and crocheting prayer shawls as part of a prayer shawl ministry at Mary Our Queen church. She had a strong faith in God and practiced her Catholic faith. She was an artist with a passion for charcoal sketch pictures, adult coloring with colored pencils and creating ceramics that brought joy to all who received them. She loved to cook and many enjoyed her delicious meals and treats. She was an amazing hostess for holidays and impromptu get togethers. She cared for others unselfishly and had close relationships with some lifelong neighborhood friends.
Germaine worked at a few jobs- office work at Fafnir Bearing’s in New Britain, drove a school bus in Southington for many years to be on the same schedule as her children, allowing her to be involved in school projects of all sorts and a Cub Scout den mother for a few years. She then worked as a bank teller in Southington, then in the accounts payable office at Bradley Memorial Hospital and onto New Britain General/Hartford Health until she retired in 2005.
She will be remembered for her warmth and unwavering love for her family and the countless ways she made others feel special.
Besides her devoted husband Rene, Germaine leaves behind her two children, Deborah White and her husband Kent, and Keith Boislard and his wife Michelle. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of seven: Joshua, Michael, and Andrew White, and Adam, Jacob, Rachel, and Abigail Boislard. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into creating special memories with each of them—from baking birthday cakes to donning a full Easter Bunny costume just to see them smile. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the joyful center of all family celebrations and the heartbeat of her home.
Germaine was predeceased by her six siblings: Joseph, Theresa, Robert, Yvette, Raymond and Lionel and although they have gone before her, their memory remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:15 AM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
