Grace Horsman

Southington - Grace (Schiavone) Horsman, 85 of Ledgeview Court, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Hospital of Central CT at Bradley Memorial Campus. She was the wife of the late Dr. Frederick Horsman.

Born February 12, 1922 in Waterbury, she was the daughter of the late Orazio and Anna Maria (Rabitto) Schiavone.

Grace resided in Cheshire where she raised her family and in 1996 moved to Southington. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed traveling with her husband across the US and Europe. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow. Grace was an avid UCONN Womans Basketball fan. She received special loving care from her daughter-in-law Jane.

She is survived by five children, Mary Ellen Riccio and her husband Peter of Southington, Rita Morse and her husband Harry of Malvern, PA, Tracy Pettengill and her husband Michael of Colchester, Martin Horsman and his wife Jane of Glastonbury, John Horsman and his wife Laurie of Clearwater, FL. 13 grandchildren, John and Susan Riccio; Michelle, Gregory, Thomas and Karyn Horsman; Kathryn, Eileen, Frederick and Ann Horsman, Chelsea and Carolyn Morse and Tristan Pettengill and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 sisters, Sarah Macary, Susan Dillane, Madeline Fabrizi, Mary Holmes and Esther Rosa.

Funeral will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church 248 Savage St., Plantsville for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
