

Helen (Kuczynski) Meleski, 88, of Southington passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 23, 2024 at the Southington Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Josephine and Walter Kuczynski and the wife of the late Zigmunt “Jim” Meleski for 61 years.
Helen’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment that she spent with them. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Aruba, Vegas and Florida. She loved going to Broadway theaters, painting, walks with friends, and working in her garden.
Helen was a beautiful person inside and out. She was a kind, gentle soul and loved everyone. She developed dementia later in life, which may have robbed her of her memory and mind, but it could never take away the special person that she was. She always had a smile on her face and was genuinely content with life. She still shared the wonderful person that she was and had so much to offer to everyone.
Helen is survived by her daughter Kathleen Lee and her husband John of Southington; five grandchildren, Andrew Lee of Southington, Alyssa Franzen and husband Patrick and Leah Meleski, all of Bellingham, WA, Kyle Meleski and his wife Christina of Litchfield and Kara Meleski of Atlanta, GA; four great-grandchildren Quincy, Finley, Madelyn, and Dominic; daughter-in-law Amy Tittarelli-Meleski of Berlin and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Dr. Stephen Meleski; three brothers Joseph, Walter and Edward Kuczynski and a sister Ann Berek.
Helen’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Southington Care Center for their compassion and excellent care they provided to Helen in her last days.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 31st at 11 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Plantsville. Calling hours will be prior to the Mass from 9-10:15 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
In lieu of flowers, Take the time to smile and share the joy of the moment with people you meet. Helen was notorious for her smiling eyes and a kind word.
