Hye Kim

Hye Kim, 82, of the Plantsville section of Southington passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Kyungho Hur. She was born October 29, 1941 in Daegu City, South Korea and was the daughter of the late Yongu and Myungae Kim.

Hye volunteered for many years in Korea as a hospice care worker at the Daegu Fatima Hospital and as a special needs care assistant at the Order of the Discalced Carmelites Korea. She was also President of the Daemyung Catholic Church Ladies Guild.

Hye was an extremely religious lady her whole life. She spent the duration of her years volunteering at her church and helping others in need. Despite losing her husband at 37 years old, she continued to support and provide generously for her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. Her passion for service and spreading kindness to those around her defines her as a person and serves as a highlight in her life.

Hye is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Kathy and her granddaughter Ava who she adored.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville.
