Irving R. Nichols

Southington- Irving R. Nichols Jr. 71 of Manor Rd, Plantsville section, passed away on Monday April 13, 2009 at HCC at New Britain General. He was the husband for 50 years of Virginia (Zaczkowski) Nichols.

Born in New Britain on April 13, 1938, the son of the late Irving R. and Joan (Shubert) Nichols.

Mr. Nichols attended New Britain Schools and was active in the Southington Valley Midget Football League where he was a field coordinator. He loved fishing and sailing and was the best handyman.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by J.R. Renaud in Cheshire, and had worked for many years at Sherwood Industries in Kensington.

In addition to his wife he leaves two sons Thomas D. Nichols and wife Kelly, Kurt D. Nichols and wife Debbie, 5 grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Amanda, Elizabeth, Shannon, Zachary and Benjamin Nichols all of Southington., also a sister Dolores Carling and husband Wayne of East Berlin and a brother Richard Nichols and wife Gloria of Southington, several nieces ,nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was predeceased by a son Irving R. Nichols III.

The Funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at Wonx Spring Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
