
He was born July 10, 1928 in Milldale, son of the late William B. and Ancella (Variano) Fontana. He had retired from SNET after 34 years as a national accounting manager.. He resided in New Britain for 35 years. Mr. Fontana was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. Since 1990 he resided in Daytona Beach, FL during the winter months. He enjoyed boating, sport fishing, square dancing and golfing. In his retirement he gave narratives on the Connecticut River Boats.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Rubin and her husband Michael of Colchester, Janet Fontana and her husband Scott Voglesong of New Britain, a brother Joseph A. Fontana of Redondo Beach, CA, 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Rubin. He also leaves his former wife Nellie Fontana of New Britain. He was predeceased by a brother William Fontana.
The Funeral will be held Friday 10 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be with Military honors at St. Thomas Cemetery.
