

Southington ? Ernest ?John? Kjellson, formerly of Manchester passed away on January 29, 2011 at HCC, New Britain campus with his wife and son at his side. He was the husband of Faith (Leary) Kjellson. He was born on July 13, 1929 in Manchester, CT son of the late Ernest L. and Anna (Anderson) Kjellson.
John retired from the CT DOT as a Highway Maintenance Planner having over 30 years of service with them. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Southington. He was a member of the Freemasons Lodge #73 in Manchester, having been a very active member including being Past Master. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was a member of Beethovens Mens Chorus. He was also an avid UConn Basketball fan for both the men and women.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son Carl Kjellson and his wife Sylvia of Swedesboro, NJ, 2 step-daughters Maureen Flynn of Meriden and Joann Flynn Noonan and her husband Thomas of Meriden, 3 grandchildren Emily Kjellson, Anna Kjellson, and James Flynn and wife Kelly, and a great-granddaughter Maggie Flynn, and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria (Ebb) Kjellson, two sisters Mae Peterson and Ruth Benson.

The funeral service will be held on Friday February 4, 2011, at 10:30 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Calling hours are from 4-8 pm on Thursday February 3, 2011. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Zion Lutheran Church, 531 Woodruff Street, Southington, CT 06489.
