

He was born in Southington on Dec. 1, 1936, the son of the late Giovanni and Rose Mary (Ranaudo) Sorbello. He served in the US Air Force for 4 years from 1955-1959. Prior to his retirement he was a service technician with Sears for over 30 years. John loved gardening, country music and guitars but most of all he loved his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Giovanni Sorbello III and wife Cynise of VA, Anthony Sorbello of Bristol, Curtis Markey and wife Janice of GA and Corinne Markey of Torrington, 5 grandchildren, Giovanni Sorbello IV, Antonio Sorbello, David Colangelo Sorbello, Elizabeth Newman and Curtis Markey Jr., 2 great-grandchildren Lucy and Finley Newman. He also leaves a brother Rocco Sorbello of FL, 3 sisters Barbara DiNicola of Bristol, Consetta Commesso of FL and Rachel Sorbello of MI and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 4 brothers Sebastiano, Salvatore, Joseph and Amelio and 2 sisters Rose Franco and Margaret Dorsey
The family would like to thank the critical care unit at HCC for their excellent care and kindness.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23rd at 9:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville at 10 am. Burial with military honors will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5-7 pm.
