John Peter Wcislo Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on November 27, 1957, in Nowa Huta, Poland, to the late Jan and Maria (Moryl) Wcislo. In 1968, at the age of 10, John immigrated to the United States, where he would build a life rooted in hard work, family, and simple joys.
John was the devoted husband of Sophie (Kaczowka) Wcislo, with whom he shared a loving marriage since 1981. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and deep family bonds.
For many years, John was employed as a utility locator with 811 Call Before You Dig, a role he took pride in through his dedication and reliability. Outside of work, John enjoyed muscle cars, riding his Harley-Davidson V-Rod, and hunting for a good deal on Facebook Marketplace. He especially loved a hearty, warm bowl of soup and fondly remembered snowmobiling and hunting adventures from his younger years. He was also a Polish Scout as a child where he learned basic survival skills and built many friendships.
Above all else, John’s greatest joy was his family. His true love was time spent with his children and, most especially, his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
In addition to his beloved wife Sophie, John is survived by his three children: John Wcislo Jr. and his wife Stacie; Dorothy Melnyk and her husband Andrew; and Peter Wcislo and his wife Marie. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Ellie, Caroline, and Brian Melnyk, and Declan, Cordelia, and Evan Wcislo. John is also survived by his sister, Margie Mandell, sister-in-law Helen Werns, brother-in-law Robert Kaczowka and wife Aimee Quaratino Kaczowka and his nieces, Tiana Mandell and Michelle Melendez.
