Joseph "Paul" P. H. Guimond

Paul was born on November 27, 1930, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph A. and Yvonne (Raiche) Guimond. He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1947, and later attended Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.

Paul proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an Air Traffic Controller, stationed in Japan. His military service was a meaningful chapter of his life and provided him with many memorable experiences and stories that he enjoyed sharing with his family.

Following his service, Paul dedicated many decades of his career to the United States Postal Service, retiring as a supervisor. He lived an active life and was known for his love of travel, having visited destinations including Paris, France; Monaco; London; and Hawaii. An avid golfer, Paul also enjoyed daily walks, a habit he maintained throughout his life.

His family would like to give heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care given to him by the staff and providers at The Summit.

Paul is survived by his sister-in-law Denise Guimond; nephews Keith (Jacqueline) Powers, Steven Powers, and Christopher (Jocelyn) Powers; his nieces Nancy (Frank) Powers-Salamon, Kathleen Donahue, and April Powers; his great-nieces and greatnephews Emily (Peter), Del, Bailey (Jason), Jocelin (Greg), Michael, Frazer (Tiffany), Carter (Mary), Ambar, Sol and Sandra; and his great-great-nieces and nephews Elliot, June, and Bennett. He also leaves behind great-great niece Abigail and great-great nephew Joseph, with whom he shared a special and cherished friendship.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and their spouses, Normand Guimond, Gerard (Theresa) Guimond, Andrew (Lucy) Guimond; his sister Vivian (George) Powers; his nephew Mike Donahue and nieces Doris and Rita Guimond.

At Paul’s request, all services will be held privately with his family. He will be interred privately in the spring at the State Veteran Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul’s name may be made to The Summit at Plantsville by mailing checks to 261 Summit Street, Plantsville, CT 06479.
