Louis was born in Ashford, CT on June 16, 1928 to the late Anna (Gaspar) and Joseph Fugedi.
He graduated from the American School for the Deaf and never let his hearing impairment stop him. He was a hard-working Jack-of-all-trades who accomplished the impressive feat of building his own home from the ground up. He had a deep appreciation for the earth and its land; he enjoyed farming, growing things from the ground, and hunting. As a young man he loved horse racing and has always been an animal enthusiast, especially cats. Louis was a foodie who loved bagna càuda, shrimp, and salads. Louis was a board member, treasurer, and advocate of the Newington Senior & Disabled Center, where he enjoyed playing bingo and cards. He was also very artistic and loved to draw.
In addition to his wife Dolores, Louis is survived by his step-children who he was a second Dad to Nancy Petro-Simone and her husband Mark, and Janet Petro-Bergeron and her husband Donald, all of Southington; his grandchildren John Bergeron, Shawna Bergeron, Crista Moore, Mark Simone, Joe Simone, and Dan Simone; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Louis is predeceased by his brothers John, Joseph, and Steve Fugedi, and his sisters Mary Pekarovic and Margaret Krukoff.
Visitation will be held from 8:45-9:45am on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N Main St., Southington, to process to St. Peter Church, 99 E Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Burial will follow at New St. Francis Cemetery, 863 S Main St., Torrington. Mask and social distancing precautions are required.
