Lynn (Hoskins) Brown, 81, of Southington, CT, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 29, 2025, at her home after a brief illness. Born on October 20, 1944, in Ithaca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl William Hoskins and Mary Esther (Shackelton) Hoskins.
Lynn was the beloved wife of Barry J. Brown, with whom she shared nearly 59 years of devoted marriage. A graduate of Skidmore College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, she became one of the first female computer analysts for IBM. But her decision to embrace Christ as her Savior changed her pathway. She studied early childhood development and was a preschool founder and director for thirteen years. Lynn enjoyed her strong and unwavering supportive role in her husband’s pastoral ministry, a true “help meet” assisting him in the development of White Oak Baptist Church in Stratford, CT—an enduring and thriving congregation that remains a testament to their shared faith and commitment.
A longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Southington, Lynn lived out her Christian faith with quiet strength, compassion, and service. She was also a former member of the Apple Valley Quilters Guild, where her love of quilting flourished. Her home—and the homes of countless others—are graced with the beautiful quilts she lovingly crafted over the years.
Lynn delighted in the simple joys of life: completing jigsaw puzzles, tackling the daily Wordle and Connections challenges, and spending treasured time with her family and friends. Christmas brunch, especially with her signature strawberry waffles and ice cream, was one of her more recent cherished traditions.
In addition to her husband Barry, Lynn is survived by her two sons: Kenneth Brown and his partner Olga Krasilnikov, and Jason Brown and his wife Tara. She leaves behind nine grandchildren—Andrew Brown and his wife Samantha, Emily, Kristin, and Annie Brown, Amanda Chopka and her husband James, Elisabeth, Oliver, Hazel, and Violet Brown—as well as two great-grandchildren, Abram and Sophie Brown. Her love, guidance, and warmth will continue to live on in each of them.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 9:15–10:45 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 1505 West St., Southington, CT 06489. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place afterward at Oak Hill Cemetery.
