

Maria (Secondo) Leonetti, 88, of Southington, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the HOCC at Bradley Memorial Campus, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Raffaele Leonetti for sixty-one years.
Maria was born on January 3, 1937, in Castel Campagnano, Italy, to the late Pacifico and Giovannina (Picone) Secondo. She immigrated to the United States in 1965, where she would go on to build a life filled with love and devotion to her family and community.
As one of her first jobs in America, Maria spent countless hours perfecting the famous Popular Restaurant Apizza. She worked there with her husband for many years bringing smiles to the locals of Southington. Maria was also a long-time employee of the Bradley Memorial Hospital. Maria dedicated many years of service to her work, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Outside of her career, she had a passion for cooking and baking, often sharing her delicious meals with family and friends. Her home was always warm with the aroma of her culinary creations. Maria was also an avid collector, with a cherished collection of dolls that brought her much joy over the years. Her talents in crocheting and sewing filled her time when she wasn’t on family day trips to Hammonasset Beach.
In addition to her beloved husband, Raffaele, Maria is survived by her two daughters, Teresa Izzo and her husband Mario, and Joanne D’Agostino and her husband Joseph Jr., all of Southington. She leaves behind five grandsons, Joseph D’Agostino III and his wife Sydney, Dante D’Agostino, Silvio D’Agostino, Mario Izzo Jr., Luca Izzo, and her precious dog Bruno, all of Southington. Maria is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by an infant son, Luca Leonetti, her brother, Domenico Secondo, and her sister, Teresa Nero.
Maria's warmth, kindness, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, Nonni, and friend, whose memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and those whose lives she touched.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 8:15 a.m. From the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd. For a Mass of Christian burial at 9 AM. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery., Southington. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 PM
