“Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.” Marie M. (Crisci) Burleigh, 76, of the Plantsville section of Southington, got her wings in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family and her vast array of Christmas teddy bears on Sunday, September 17, 2023. She was the beloved widow of the late Richard Burleigh who passed away in 2009. Marie was born in New Haven on December 7, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Dominick and Michelina (Demarzo) Crisci. She graduated from Southern CT State College with her Master’s degree and retired from Hartford Health Care where she was a Medicare specialist. Marie was a social butterfly who made many friends while working out at the Southington YMCA and volunteering for the Southington Bread for Life, The Bushnell Theater, the Alzheimer’s Center, and the Ladies Guild of St. Aloysius Church where she was a long-time parishioner. She also was a devout donor of blood to the Red Cross. When she had free time, you could find Marie knitting afghans, coloring, reading books from the Book Club, watching Christmas movies or listening to Christmas music. But most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren who will miss her terribly. Marie is survived by her two children, Scott Burleigh and his wife Jill of Southington and Linda Burleigh and her partner Kurt Kilbourn of Plantsville. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Jessica Montana and her husband Nathaniel of New York, Kyle Burleigh of Plantsville and Zachary Burleigh of Southington as well as several nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her brother, Salvatore Crisci as well as an infant brother who she never met. A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM in St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville, CT 06479. Burial will be private.
