Michael Carmen Amerose, age 70, passed peacefully from this life, leaving behind a rich legacy of memories and love his family will cherish. Born on Long Island, Michael’s prodigious talents in music became evident during childhood, when he quickly surpassed his music teacher on the guitar. As a professional musician and recording engineer, Michael toured with the likes of Hall and Oates, Elvis Costello, and the Johnny Winter group. Retiring from the road, Michael turned his interest to the culinary arts, becoming an esteemed local head chef. His later, culminating passion included training and caring for horses, where he found his heart’s calling. Michael’s intuitive, gentle nature with these animals was evident in his compassionate nurturing and care for them; he was happiest in the fields where they roamed free.
Michael leaves behind his beloved daughters, Ashley Amerose, and Alicyn Pintarich and her husband; his father, Ronald C. Amerose; his brother, Patrick Amerose and his wife; a sister, Mary Ellen Molski and her husband; his cherished grandchildren, Odin and Aurora; and his nieces and nephew, Michelle, James, and Kathleen. He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine (Dibble) Amerose.
There will be no calling hours. Services will be privately attended by the family and guests. In lieu of a memorial, please consider a donation to the EQUUS Foundation in Michael’s name.
