

Michelina (DiLernia) Magnano of Plainville, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother passed away Tuesday evening, after an extended illness, at the Hospital of Central CT.
Michelina was born on July 26, 1924 in Avezzano, Italy, the daughter of Nicola DiLernia and Felicetta (Rubini) DiLernia.
She married Salvatore Magnano on December 26, 1947 in Avezzano, Italy. She arrived in this country on May 3, 1950 and settled with her husband in Middletown. She devoted herself to family and provided her children and grandchildren with the rich traditions of her homeland. She was a wonderful cook and delighted in preparing enormous Italian dinners for family and friends. Michelina was thrilled with the growth of her family and lovingly welcomed each addition. She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore on July 31, 1987.
Michelina is survived by sons Nicholas Magnano and wife Judith of Norwich, Salvatore Magnano and wife Victoria of Southington, daughter Hilda Ward and husband Donald of Ft. Myers, FL. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Rebecca Foss, Jessica Owens and husband Sean, Thomas O’Nan and wife Kelly, Amanda Magnano-Brown and husband Jeff and Salvatore Magnano III. She had four great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She leaves behind sisters Angela Magnano of New Britain and Vittoria Spera of Avezzano, Italy, a brother Osvaldo DiLernia and his wife Domenica of Plainville and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Savino DiLernia.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield.
