Born on October 12, 1958 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Patricia A. (Clark) Wiech.
Nancy and Gary were married for 46 years and built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved. Although born in Meriden, she loved Southington, having moved here in 1966, considered it her hometown, and raised her family here. She retired after 20 years at the Hartford. In her spare time, she enjoyed wildlife photography, sewing, and crafting and was especially proud to have won a blue ribbon at the Goshen Fair for her apple pie.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gary Robert Gendreau, as well as her children and their spouses; Elizabeth Gendreau and Todd Gwiazdowski of Southington and Stephen and Laura Gendreau of Southington. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren; Nicholas, Nathan, and Alexander Gwiazdowski, as well as William Gendreau, with another grandchild on the way. Nancy treasured each of them as individuals and took great pride in their accomplishments and milestones. She also leaves her sister Cynthia A. Wiech of Colchester and a beloved niece Allison Morrione and her husband Nick of Wallingford who held a special place in her heart.
Nancy was fortunate to share longtime friendships with Janet, Sandy, and Alice whose support and companionship meant the world to her. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brian Byrne of the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain, the dedicated infusion staff at HOCC at Bradley, the Oncology staff on Floor C5 at HOCC New Britian, and Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care for their exceptional care, kindness, and friendship throughout her long illness.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nancy’s life during calling hours on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 3-6 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paltown at www.paltown.org/memorial
