

Nancy Lou Gifford, 83, of Southington, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Bristol Hospital. Nancy was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on May 9, 1941 to the late Malcolm and Beatrice (Lebeau) Gifford.
Nancy was a loving and caring individual who unconditionally gave to her family and friends. She was a bookkeeper by trade for most of her life operating her own business before retirement. Nancy was a lover of books and was an avid reader all of her life. Even after her vision was affected by macular degeneration, she still continued to listen to books on tape to fulfill her need to read and to stimulate her mind and imagination. She had a wonderful collection of books that she truly enjoyed and which her family will treasure always.
Nancy was in her happy place when she was in the Cape with her family. Many summers were spent in this home where countless memories were made. Nancy even lived there full time for a period of time. Her family will cherish all those memories made and will continue to venture to the Cape in her memory. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and regularly visited with her friends at the Calendar House in Southington where she shared in endless laughs and camaraderie. She will certainly be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Nancy is survived by her two sons Timothy Smith and his wife Ella and Scott Smith and his wife Kelly. She also leaves behind her 5 grandchildren Zachary, Billy, Keegan, Brenna and Kathryn, her two sisters Judy Gauvin and Carol Crookes, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years William A. Smith, and her son William J.A. Smith.
Her family will receive visitors on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington, CT 06489, followed by a memorial service from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
