

Nunzio L. Pellecchia of Southington, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday August 28. He was born in 1930 in Plainville CT. His wife of 62 years, Virginia, passed away in 2012. He leaves four sons, Michael, David, Daniel and Mitchell; four grandchildren, Adam, Angela, Jacob and Justin; a brother Joseph, a sister Carmella, and many nieces and nephews.
Nunzio was one of nine children born to Italian immigrants from Southern Italy.
He attended the Hartford Institute of Accounting. He served in the U.S. Navy in Michigan and Washington, D.C., and started his career while he finished his high school diploma in night school. He enjoyed a long career at Northeast Utilities beginning at Connecticut Light and Power. He started as a tabulating machine operator, and he learned how to use computers, and train and supervise others, as his company adapted to the new technology. He retired as a financial supervisor in 1992.
He and his wife Ginny enjoyed vacations around New England and other parts of the U.S., bringing the children along when they were small. They always enjoyed Elizabeth Park and Pope Park in Hartford, Hubbard Park in Meriden. The family settled in New Britain in 1955 and moved to Southington in 1966. Nunzio retired in 1992. He enjoyed motorcycles and driving his car to admire the four seasons in New England. He also enjoyed swimming at the Southington YMCA and playing cards at the Calendar House. He liked everyone around him to enjoy themselves.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington for a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
