
Born in Brooks, ME on September 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Basil T. and Eldora M. (Murphy) Booker. He was raised in Wolcott, a member of the 2nd class to graduate from the original Alcott School. During WWII he helped his father as a plane spotter and was one of the youngest in CT to earn a certificate for it. He went on to serve in the US Marine Corps from 1952 to 1972 during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. In 1972 he and his wife settled in Wolcott where he had been a resident until two years ago. Paul worked as a security guard for Scovill Mfg. Co. and Century Brass and was a member of the American Legion Post 165 in Wolcott.
Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by is five children, Linda and her husband Patrick Hayes of Waterbury, James Booker, April and her husband Paul MacDonald all of Wolcott, Andrew and his wife Michelle Booker of Westfield, MA, Holly Booker and her companion Mark Clark of New Haven, a brother Gary Booker of Meriden, 9 grandchildren Alexander MacDonald and his fiancée Sara Rich, Justin, Amy, Katherine, Kristen, Mardasha, Dante, Markal, and Ian Booker, and a great grandson Daquan Booker. He was predeceased by a sister Carol Spradling, and two brothers Larry and John Booker.
A Funeral Service followed by military honors will be held on Saturday March 21 at 12 noon at the Wolcott Congregational Church 185 Center St. The family plans to have his cremains interred in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott.
