

on Feb. 19, 1926, to the late Mr. Napoleon and Mrs. Bernice Davis
Mrs. Wrice was called home on February 17, 2011 at 20 Crestwood Lane
She was married to the late Rev. Dr. Harold D. Wrice, Sr.(67years),
their union was blessed with many children; Harold D. Wrice, Jr.,
Mozelle Walker (Penny J.), Betty Lou Roderick (Mark J.),
Dutchess Wrice, Gilbert Wrice (Kathy), Rena Boston, Gregory Wrice
(Lynn), Marcella Wrice, Kristina Wrice, Robert Wrice, Dianne Brooks,
Perneatha Sherman, Stephanie Wrice, Joanna Stinson and Paul Bentley.
Peggy attended local schools in Georgia, she moved to CT in 1943.
She joined Union A.M.E. Zion Church, now Spottswood; at Union, she
sang in senior choir, worked on Stewardess Board #2, Missionary Society.
Upon Rev. Wrice's call to the ministry, Mrs. Wrice served as
First Lady at Bloomfield A.M.E. Zion (a mission work), Parker and
Beulah A.M.E. Zion Churches. Mrs. Wrice, her husband along with
their children transferred to the Kentucky Conference, where she
took up the duties as First Lady of Zion Temple A.M.E. Zion Church,
along with two other rural A.M.E. Zion Churches.
Peggy and her husband returned to the New England Conference,
to their home church, Spottswood, where she worked as Sect. in the
children ministry, with Sis. A. Coley, in the Missionaries, the Deaconess
Board, the tape ministry and Peggy and Harold served as leader of
leaders. Mrs. Wrice served as Sect. for the Hartford Dist. W.H. & O.M.
Society for nine years, under the leadership of Sis. Margie J. Bonner.
Rev. Wrice took the appointment to Clinton A.M.E. Zion, Ansonia and
Rev. and Mrs. Wrice served several years before their retiring in 1993.
In being a wife and mother, Peggy worked in the church, also outside
jobs, such as the Latimer Laundry, Stanley Works, Fafnir Bearings,
The South Church Day Care Center, from which she retired.
Mrs. Wrice leaves to cherish her memory 15 children(above), 61
grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren,
one sister Helen Mitchell, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband The Rev. Dr. Harold D. Wrice, Sr.,
a daughter, Rev. Gladys Robertson; three grandchildren, Dean Wrice,
Troy Wrice and Kyle Berry.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday February 24, 2011 at Spottswood AME Zion Church
