Richard Alan Ceruti, 67, of Guilford, formerly of Meriden, Southington and Berlin, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. Born in Meriden on April 3, 1959, he was the beloved son of the late Richard Louis Ceruti and Mary Jane (Hartman) Ceruti.
Raised in Meriden and later Berlin, Richard attended both school systems. A longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was baptized, received his First Holy Communion, and was confirmed there, carrying his faith with quiet devotion throughout his life.
Richard earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hartford and achieved a Professional Engineer certification, accomplishments that reflected both his intelligence and determination. He completed all of his studies at night after long days of work, a testament to his commitment to providing for his family and bettering their future. He dedicated his professional life to innovation and service through his work with RWE Clean Energy, where he helped engineer and develop products designed to harness the power of solar and wind energy. He was a long time member of ASHRAE The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
An outdoorsman at heart, Richard found his greatest happiness near the water. After raising his family in Berlin, he settled along the Connecticut shoreline in Guilford, where he embraced the coastal life he cherished. Whether fishing, clamming, boating, or hunting, he was most at peace outdoors, especially at the beach surrounded by family and friends. He carried a lifelong love of learning that shaped the way he saw the world. He was well known for taking on ambitious projects, making more than a few trips to the hardware store, and taking the scenic route to the finish line on each one.
Richard was known for his generous spirit and unwavering willingness to help others. A proud and dedicated blood donor, he lived by the principle that kindness should be extended freely and without hesitation, whether to loved ones or strangers in need. His outgoing nature allowed him to make friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his former spouse and friend, Holly (Tompkins) Ceruti, and their two daughters. He shared a close and loving bond with his daughter Marijane Ceruti and her husband, Alireza Sohrabi Esmroud, who currently live in St. Louis, Missouri. His daughter Julianne Ceruti and her husband, Pierre Khawaja, who live in Manchester, and her accomplishments and the family they raised, including his grandsons, Trenner and Joseph, were a source of pride for him. He is further survived by his siblings Alane Boria and her husband Gregory, Andrea Ceruti, Christina “Tina” Ceruti, Lance Ceruti and his wife Stacy, and Brian Ceruti and his wife Bridget. He leaves behind ten nieces and nephews, along with countless extended family members and many treasured friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
