

He was born on December 15, 1938 in Meriden, son of the late Veronica (Domaleski) and Anthony Lorenzo.
Richard attended Lewis High School before entering Fairfield University on a full four-year baseball scholarship. He graduated in 1961 with a degree in business education before completing advanced studies.
Richard was a well-liked teacher in the Southington school system for 34 years and a successful high school and college basketball coach. He was an exceptionally talented athlete who excelled in baseball, basketball, and slow-pitch softball. He was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and rarely missed a broadcast.
Richard is survived by his cherished daughter, Elizabeth Lorenzo; sisters Mary Salvatore, Joyce Pomposi, and Dorothy Graham; his brother Anthony Lorenzo; nephew Ronald Salvatore and wife Joanne; and 28 nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving partner of 15 years, Jayne Nunziante, and his life-long best friend, Edward Nardi.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, January 17th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Due to the current pandemic, masks and social distancing precautions are required. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, 99 Bristol Street in Southington.
