

He was born in Meriden on April 5, 1950, the son of the late George and Madeline (Miller) Cowles. He was a 1968 graduate of SHS and a graduate of Northwestern CT Community College. Roger was a salesman in the garden industry for over 30 years and was passionate about gardening and cooking. He played softball for many years in the Southington town leagues, enjoyed decades of golfing with friends in his Wednesday league and was a fan of the NY Giants, Yankees and UCONN teams. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends. Roger was an enthusiastic world traveler, experiencing fine cuisines and cultures with his wife, Robin. He valued every moment spent with his children and was a proud ?Papa? to his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son Caleb Cowles and his wife Erin, of Bristol, his daughter Elizabeth Johnston and her husband Gary, of Southington, and his beloved grandchildren Sawyer, Jonah and Molly. He also leaves his loving sister Gladys Cantito and her husband Philip, of Southington, and brother David Lynes and his wife Barbara, of Seymour, and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.
He was predeceased by a brother James Lynes and sister Sandra Lynes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 noon at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Friday 4-7 pm.
