Born February 20, 1939 in New Brunswick, Canada he was a son of the late Alphonse and Blanche (Durpos) Cyr.
Roland was a veteran of the Vietnam War proudly serving with the U.S. Army. He then served 21 years with the CT National Guard. He was a lead man at Sikorsky Aircraft for 34 years, retiring in 1999. After retirement he was a member of the Military Honor Guard Firing Squad for over 20 years.
In addition to his wife he leaves his two sons, John Cyr of Southington and James Cyr and wife Lisa of Waterbury; three grandchildren, Brianna Cyr, Ashley Cyr and Michael Cyr all of Waterbury; three brothers, Elmer Cyr and wife Danna of Tucson AZ, Ivan Cyr and wife Sue and Reno Cyr both of Watertown and a sister Claudette Cyr of Watertown along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Fernand Cyr and a sister Sylvia (Cyr) Plante.
His funeral will be held on Friday, December 9th at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
