He was born on December 18th, 1934, the son of the late Salvatore J. Sr. and Mary (Aldieri) Palmieri. He was the loving husband of Doria (Beaulieu) Palmieri, for 61 beautiful years. Their love and devotion knew no bounds.
In addition to his wife Doria, he is survived by his daughters Lori, and her husband Jonathan Lindberg, Katherine, and her husband Paul Pawlak, all of Southington, and Karen, and her husband Robert Hood of Killingworth; his grandchildren Katie Lindberg, Mark Lindberg, Larissa Pawlak, Kaylee Pawlak, Christina and husband Paul Beckett, Jennifer Hood, Michael and wife Heather Hood, Nathan Hood, and Shannon Palmieri; great-grandchildren Peyton, Wyatt, Jack, and Beau. He also leaves his brother Joseph and wife Bonnie Palmieri, of Westbrook, and a daughter-in-law, Maureen Spencer. He had many very special nephews and nieces that will always have a place in his heart. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Palmieri, and a sister, Julia Hackett.
Prior to his retirement, he co-owned and operated, along with his cousin Lewis Palmieri, Johnny's Supermarket in Plantsville for many years. Sal enjoyed his loyal customers and through the years, you could always count on him for that special recipe, along with cooking instructions written on the package. You never left the counter without a slice of cheese or salami. Their service to the public spanned several generations of families.
After his retirement, he continued to serve others by volunteering to help many organizations, neighbors, family, and friends. His lifelong passion was pleasing others by finding any and all items they may need. Sal was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church and a member of their Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Abbey of Regina Laudis, a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered for the Bread for Life.
Private Funeral and Burial services will be held at the convenience of the family. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is assisting with arrangements.
