

Shirley A. (Millette) Ackerman, 73, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. She was the wife of Bernard E. Ackerman.
Born September 28, 1939, in Burlington, VT, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Bernadette (Bishop) Millette.
Shirley was a faithful Christian and a devout member of the Faith Living Church. Her many ministries in life were to help others in their time of need and putting everyone else before herself. She loved not only her own children but the many children that she cared for from her own family members to the children at the Faith Living Nursery. Shirley also worked for various Friendly?s Restaurants in Meriden for 30 years.
In addition to her husband she leaves her children, Richard E. Ackerman and partner Mark of Palm Harbor, FL, Tammy Kijanka and husband Keith of Trinity, FL, and Brenda Lee Crosby of Berlin; two brothers, Richard Millette of Milford and Frank Millette of Colchester; three sisters, Barbara Jameson of Plantsville, Madeleine Benoit and Rita Forman both of S. Burlington, VT; three grandchildren, Chasity Crosby, Kyle Kijanka and Tayler Kijanka. She also leaves a nephew Sean Jameson and wife Stacy and their three children. She was predeceased by a daughter Tracey Lynn Ackerman.
A graveside service will be held 10 am on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Ln., Meriden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation/Tri-State Chapter, 59 Front St., Binghamton, NY, 13905.
The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
