Susanne Miller Croft

     Born in Waterbury on July 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ivy (Garfield) Miller II. She graduated from the former St. Margaret's-McTernan School and attended Smith College. She has been a Wolcott resident for over 45 years and worked for the town as assistant treasurer for over 20 years.

     Mrs. Croft was an active and devoted member of Wolcott Congregational Church, where she was one of the first female deacons. She served as the secretary and was on several church committees and boards. She also served on the Board of Directors of Chestnut Hill Housing Inc. Her favorite past times included going to the theater, the bridge club and the reading circle at the Wolcott public library.

     She was a wonderful mother to her seven children: Michael Higgins and his partner Nita Sembrowich of Cambridge,MA, Laura and her husband Frederick Petrella of Northford,CT, Amy Griggs of Green Cove Springs, FL, Daniel and his wife Laura Croft of Stamford,CT, Julie and her husband Dennis Powers of Plymouth, CT, Christopher and his wife Lori Croft of New York City, Heather and her husband Harry Hafford of North Pole, Alaska. She is also survived by her 14 cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Kristin Petrella, Mike and Jake Griggs, Danielle and James Croft, Mary and Katie Powers, Charlotte and Molly Croft, Althea, Lynette, Leneil and Earl Hafford. She was predeceased by a brother Frank Miller III, and less than two months ago lost her son in law Mike Griggs.

     A Memorial Service will be held Monday 1PM at Wolcott Congregational Church 185 Center St. Wolcott. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 7 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. Visit www.dellavecchiafh.com for more information.
