Sylvia O. (Roy) Golmon of Southington, died on December 24, 2023, at age 99 and 9 months. She was born in Upper Frenchville, ME, on March 3, 1924. She came to CT shortly after graduating from high school; she was the class valedictorian, but college hopes were dashed when WWII began. Working in the defense industry as an inspector, she met our dad, Landon Golmon. In 1946 Sylvia married Landon and subsequently had 3 children: James, Sandra, and Susan.
Sylvia was the epitome of the ‘Energizer Bunny’. Her motto revolved around making herself useful. Her altruism was well known among her family and friends. As a member of St. Thomas Church since the fifties, she belonged to the Lap Blanket Ministry, making about 100 lap blankets for the sick or elderly and forging some very priceless friendships. Even just before her massive stroke, she was still cooking, crocheting, and cleaning.
Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Landon after 54 years of marriage. Additionally, she was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine Corriveau; her brother, Albert Roy ; her parents, Fleurida and Hilaire Roy; and by her aunt and uncle/ god parents, Annie and Oneizime Roy, who raised her after her Mom’s death in 1929. Sylvia was blessed to grow up in the household with 4 cousins who treated her like a sibling, her favorite was Alberie.
Left to mourn Sylvia’s loss are her children, James Golmon of Southington, Sandra and Gary Kalosky of Plantsville, Susan and Tom Coscia of Woodstock, CT, and Fort Myers, FL. Grandchildren include Nicholas and Beth Kalosky, Ryan and Megan Drew, Aaron and Rachel Coscia.
