

Sylvia Palumbo Scarpa, born on January 27, 1932, in Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 92 years young. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Sylvia touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sylvia was a woman of great strength, compassion, and kindness. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting others before herself. Her warm smile and gentle spirit could light up any room, and her unwavering support and love were constants in the lives of those she held dear.
She is survived by her loving children, Donna Barnett & George of California, Lawrence Scarpa & Katherine, Diana Saucier & Wayne of South Carolina, and Janice Testa & Pasco; and her adored grandchildren, Heather & Brandon Friss, Daniel & Ivonne Barnett, Kyle & Victoria Saucier, Miranda Saucier, Jacob & Cade Testa; and her great-grandchildren, Brianna Friss and John & Lia Barnett of California. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her brother Michael Palumbo.
Throughout her life, Sylvia was known for her passion for cooking family Sunday dinners, crafting & ceramics, and she spent countless hours with her bowling leagues & friends. Her creativity and talent were evident in everything she did, from making her delicious Italian braciole and tasty potato croquettes to her creative ceramic holiday ornaments.
Sylvia taught us the true meaning of love, resilience, and generosity. Her legacy of kindness and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage Street, Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Friends of Southington Animal Control, Inc. (Venmo Friends of Southington AC @FOSAC).
We find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace reunited with predeceased husband, Amerigo Carmelo Scarpa and her parents Patrick and Lucy Palumbo. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit, and the love she gave will forever remain in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Mom. You will be missed more than words can express, but we know that you will always be with us, guiding us with your love.
