Born on June 3, 1944, Taisa grew up in Gdansk, Poland. She attended the University of Warsaw and immigrated to the United States in 1963, settling in New Britain, CT. Upon marrying her beloved husband, Felix Varricchione, on January 27, 1968, she moved to Plainville. Later Taisa and Felix built their dream home in Southington.
Taisa, affectionately known to her family simply as "Grandma," will be deeply remembered for her generous spirit and boundless love, especially through her actions. She loved to feed people delicious food at gatherings, always ensuring everyone had enough and more than enough. Her legacy will live on through memories of her crepes, cheesecake and banana cream pie. After any family meal or party, you could consistently find Grandma at the kitchen sink, busy cleaning up, allowing everyone else to relax and enjoy conversation. She shared a special joy in cultivating beautiful roses and tending her gardens alongside her best friend and rock, Felix.
More than her culinary gifts and nurturing care, Taisa was a constant witness with a burden for others' salvation. She would lovingly check in on her nephews, nieces, and grandchildren, encouraging them to find a good church, and boldly shared the good news of Jesus with those who came to her door. Her life was a testament to her faith, always pointing back to the Lord. Taisa was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Her lifelong devotion to her family served as a beautiful echo of her deep, unwavering love for Jesus Christ. It was this faith that sustained her, and she now rests in His eternal embrace. As she would have wanted to remind us all: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Taisa joins in Heaven her parents, Borys and Maria Pleskacz, and her sister and brother-in-law, Lilia and Jeffrey Harding. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 57 years, Felix, and their children and children’s spouses: Mark Varricchione and his wife Cindy, Sonja Rocks and her husband James, and Esther Halferty and her husband Paul. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Caitlyn, Collin and his wife Dorothy, Alyssa and her husband Jacob, Ethan and his wife Tory, Madison, Gabriel, Caleb, Austin, Aiden, Aislinn, Luke, Silas, Gideon, and Nathaniel. She was recently blessed to welcome her great-granddaughter, Eden Grace, to the family. Taisa is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Halina and John Marston and Eva and Mark Couillard; and her brother and sister-in-law, Janek and Sandy Pleskacz. She will be fondly remembered by her many nephews and nieces and their children.
A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church,1505 West St., Southington, CT at 1:00 PM on June 20, 2025. Taisa will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Southington, CT.
