Ted was a graduate of Wolcott high School where he excelled in sports and many extra-curricular activities, as his friends will attest. It is there where he first learned to work on automobiles, a trade he would work in, off and on throughout his short life. Ted also worked both as a journeyman for sheet metal workers Local 40 Union and was a member of the Wolcott State Brushfire crew.
Those who knew Ted know that he lived life on his terms, good or bad. He was stricken by a disease, COPD, which took his wind but not his love for spending time with great friends and family. Ted was an avid horseshoe player winning the Miller Family Horseshoe tournament 1998. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Eagles, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and of course North Carolina Tar Heels.
Ted leaves behind his loving wife, Marlyn of Wolcott, step-sons Samuel and Zachary, his mother Carolyn and her fiancé John Mirando, his maternal grandmother Stella Bargiel, his brother Matthew, and his wife JoAnn all of Wolcott and his half-brother Greg of Kinston, N.C. Ted also leaves behind his only nephew Dylan, who he truly cherished and requested lots of hugs from. He was also predeceased by his half-brothers Tony from Augusta, Georgia and Michael from Mount Airy, N.C.
A celebration of Ted's life will be held on Friday February 19, 2016 at the Wolcott Lions Club 245 Wolcott Rd from 5pm to 8pm. Memorial donations can be made in Ted's name to Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 6066 Wolcott, CT 06716.
The DellaVecchia Funeral Home in Wolcott is assisting Ted's family with the arrangements.
