Born November 7, 1928, the son of the late, Vinton E. and Viola Grooman Sr. Vinton was a resident of Southington for 22 years before moving to Maryland. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and spent 33 years with the National Security Agency, retiring in 1985.
He was the beloved father of J. Scott Grooman, Randall Grooman, Timothy Grooman and Karen Schindler. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday morning, 9 am at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
