
Born July 2, 1928 in Bangor, ME, a son of the late William D. and Ethel M. (Towle) Hackett.
William was a veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corps, during WWII, the Occupation of China and the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Maine, Orono and retired from The Home Insurance Co. in Wallingford.
Besides his wife he is survived by three children; Will Hackett and his wife Kristi Venditti of Gilpin County, CO, Kathleen H. Rubin and her husband Keith of Wilton and Patrick K. Hackett of Lancaster, NH; three sisters, Helen Weatherbee of Bangor, ME, Eileen Foley of Lakeland, FL and I. June Smith of Winterport, ME; three grandchildren, William Noel Hackett, Kurt B. and Kyle H. Rubin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Margaret Hackett and Mary Getchell and a brother James Hackett.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
