William Norman Marshall, 82, of Southington, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Summit at Plantsville. He was born on November 11, 1937 to the late Sarah (Alexander) and John Marshall. Originally from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the family moved to Connecticut when Bill was young.
From childhood, Bill and his two brothers, Carl and Harold, faithfully attended Grace United Methodist Church and were part of the life of the congregation. Bill worked his entire adult life, first in a machine shop, and concluded his employment at Bradley Memorial Hospital.
Bill was an active participant in ARC and Southington Community Services activities and trips. A highlight for Bill, who was an avid Elvis Presley fan, was a trip to Graceland, Presley’s estate, in Memphis, Tennessee. Bill was thrilled to see “The King” in person years ago at a concert in Hartford, a story that he loved to tell. He also enjoyed the annual summer Music on the Green concerts and was seen several times on local TV programs, dancing up a storm.
Grace United Methodist Church was Bill’s second family, and the congregation embraced him in many different ways. He will be remembered and missed among us. A special thanks and recognition is given to Madeline Speruzzi who lovingly took care of Bill during the later years of his life.
A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 121 Pleasant St., Southington on Saturday, January 25th at 11 a.m. Interment will be private, at a later date.
