

Bill was born on July 8, 1949 in Ft. Fairfield, ME, the son of the late William C. and Loraine (Murphy) McEwen. He moved to Southington as a child where he spent the majority of his life. Bill was an expert auto mechanic and spent the large part of his career at Crowley Volkswagen in Plainville, where he retired in the fall of 2010.
He is survived by his 5 children, Michael McLellan and wife Roxanne, Kelley McLellan, Paula Konikowski and husband John all of Southington, Shawn McLellan of Whitefield, ME and Paul McEwen and wife Joy of Plantsville, as well as his 9 adoring grandchildren, Ricky, T.J. Nathan, Zachary, Samantha, J.D., Billy, Josh and Nicole. In addition, he is survived by his 5 siblings, Sheila Goodell of Bristol, Vicki Hayes of Plainville, Sue Termini of Wallingford, Michael McEwen of Meriden and Dona Oliver of Concord, NC; he also leaves numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Although Bill?s passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, he always put the needs of his family and friends ahead of his own. He was openly giving of his time and knowledge of cars to help a friend or family member, no matter what the circumstances or what he had to do for himself. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his generosity and kindness to those he loved.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12 noon at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. - 12 noon.
