SMITH, Asta E.-At the St. Catharines General Hospital on October 23rd, 2011 in her 81st year. Wife of Everett Smith. Loving mother of Steven (Grace) Smith, and Catherine (Bob) Childs. Survived by four dear grandchildren, Jordan and Alexander Smith, and Isabella and Ian Childs. Predeceased by her parents, sisters and brothers. Survived by her sister Clara Shortt and brother Bob Jenkinson. Asta was also close to many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed her many friends from the bridge clubs, shuffle board, billiards, swimmers, and seniors exercise groups. She worked in the communications department at Sears Canada, retiring in 1994. Asta shared her love of music with her many piano students. She was an adherent of Mountainview United Church. A special thank you to the very competent and dedicated staff of the St. Catharines General Hospital. Cremation has taken place with a private interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905-684-6346) on Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at 1:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation and would be appreciated by the family
