Don is pre-deceased by his cherished wife Shirley, their daughter Karen Alguire and son Dean Alguire. He is survived by their daughter Dale Cole and sons Gregg (Janice) and Eric (Julie) Alguire; and by grandchildren: Kathryn Cole-Bowes (Dan), Brad Cole (Serena), and Hayley, Lauren, Rowan (Alguire) and Erika, Matthew (Alguire); and great-grandchildren: Josh (Crysler) and Luke, Jake, Dylan, Olivia (Bowes) and Patricia, Ava, Evan, Abigail, Judah, Cohen, Kellan (Cole). And also, by Don’s twin brother Gordon Alguire.
This wise and God loving man will be dearly missed by all that know him. Don lived a long and content life and he lived each day humbly and anew in the Lord. “Joy comes with the morning”.
Psalm 30: I will exalt you O Lord, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried to you for help and you have healed me. O Lord you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit. Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment and his favour is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning…
Don will be lovingly remembered for having a great sense of humour and as the source of endless laughter. He loved his music and his books but most important to him was his God and his family and spending time with both. He felt great peace being assured of the salvation of his loved ones, as we also find that peace, that surpasses all understanding, in accepting his loss. He has gone on to meet his Lord, and we are as joyful in this as we are sorrowful to see him go.
Friends and family will be received at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel (75 Church Street, St. Catharines) on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. A Memorial and appreciation of our "Daa’s" life will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at his church home, Providence Community Church (Beyond Montessori), 2 O’Malley Drive, St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald Alguire’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Canada (give.cysticfibrosis.ca) or to the Eden (high school) Spiritual Life Centre (www.slceden.com).
