Doreen Isabell Miriam Olsen

Doreen was predeceased by parents Violet and William Dearman and siblings, Bill, Anita Miller and Tom. Also predeceased by first husband Herbert Wm. Olsen 1973, infant son John 1952, common law husband Russel Huston 2002. Mom is survived by her sister Virginia Woon (Dave), by her children Catherine Parker (Norm), Wes Olsen (Cheryl), Dennis Olsen (Carole Anne) and Anita Olsen. She is also survived by grandchildren; Sherri Kuzyk, Keith Olsen, Kimberly Olsen, Brittany Olsen, Sarah Olsen, Jessica Olsen, and Christopher Olsen, great grandchildren; Shayla Kuzyk, Dahlen Cook, Nellesa Olsen, Malachi Olsen, Jeremiah Olsen, Briauna Olsen, Hunter Olsen, and Walker Olsen, great great granddaughter, Amelia Cook and 10 furry grandkids.

Mom was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She loved animals, camping trips, travelling and spending time with her family. She enjoyed word games, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and was always ready to go on an adventure with her sisters. Born in Toronto she lived in the Junction area. She was very proud to have worked in an ammunition factory during WWII. She has also worked at T. Eaton Company and TD Visa retiring in 1987. She married Herb in 1947 and lived in Richmond Hill and Toronto until his death in 1973. She moved to St. Catharines in 1980 where she met Russ and started a new chapter in her life until his demise in 2002. Mom will be remembered for her caring nature, sense of humour, strength of character and love of family. She was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank Heidehof Long Term Care Home for their care over the last eight and a half years and especially to the 5th floor A Surgical Team for their exemplary palliative care in mom's final days.
