Erma Lucia Syrja

Our gentle, kind and beautiful Mother passed away on October 27, 2016 at the age of 85. Mom was happily married for 41 years to our dear Dad Wilho (1995). A loving Mom to Wayne Syrja (2000) and Lisa Hagen, Marian and Bill Yedinak, Karen and Stefan Smeja. Special Noni to her three treasured and much loved grandchildren, Christien, Zofia and Michael. Erma will also be missed by her sister Mafalda Morello, her brother Gus Pellizzari and extended family and many friends, including Dora, Emily, Jackie and Bob, Rose and Sophie. Rather than mourn her passing we prefer to celebrate her life. Erma was an avid baker and excellent cook. She also loved to garden, knit, read, square dance and travel. She worked at Eaton’s part time for 16 years and as well enjoyed volunteering at St. Alfred School for over 20 years.

The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905-684-6346) on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Funeral Mass will follow at St. Julia Catholic Church, 251 Glenridge Ave., St. Catharines. Interment in Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
