You were always there for me, I will never forget the talks, support and love you gave me.  You were my best friend and my loving mother.  I will keep you in my prayers, thoughts and my heart forever.  Love you, miss you, mum.

Tribute to Mom

From the days of the dirty thirties,
Through the years of the Second World War,
What hardships and travesties, you lived through,
Only strengthened you all the more.

Then in the late forties, a dashing man you met,
One who'd become your husband, and your life was set,
Moving into the Boomer years, babies did abound,
Filling your life with the happy laughter sound.

The sixties arrived and the children still came,
Filling your home with laughter and joy again,
As the children grew and began to leave home,
Holidays were always for home, no matter where they roamed.

During the seventies and eighties, as the family grew,
Home was where we gathered, everyone knew,
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren soon appeared,
Filling your home with family as each holiday neared.

Then in the nineties, a subtle change occurred,
Grief began to enter our home, as death raised it's head,
When the grains of sand, told the aging story,
When we lost loved ones, to their heavenly glory.

You kept the home fires burning, the family intact,
Indeed that was a very true fact,
So we lovingly honour you Mom,
Even though you are gone.

We gather for the holidays, where we stay in touch,
A tribute to you, MOM, who we all loved so much,
We keep the home fires burning, when we all meet,
Knowing that nowhere, is home so sweet.

MOM

It was a sunny September day,
When you had to go away,
We know you didn't want to go,
But your tired body, was more in the know.

We watched you struggle to take in air,
It was a very hard sight to bear,
Your kidneys had already shut down,
Swelling your body, big and round.

You couldn't speak, or focus on our faces,
We prayed for God to take you into his graces,
No more torture to take in air,
Peace and tranquility, into the Lord's loving care.

To meet with loved ones, that have gone before,
You went beyond the mortal door,
You said that they were waiting for you to come,
A reunion of loved ones, with their mum.

We miss you every day, in many things we do and say,
We know that you will wait, for us to have our day,
When we will join, those who have gone away,
A joyous time, reunited, happy and oh so gay

The world has lost the epitome of a good mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her love extended far beyond her family encompassing all who turned up at her table of food , mixed and made with love. I thank you for all of those dinners, you will be missed.
