

Our mother passed away peacefully at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre on Sunday March 13th, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born on February 28th, 1922 and has been a lifelong resident of St. Catharines. She will be dearly missed by her three children – Ken (Joanne) Atkinson of St. Catharines, Kathie (Ron) Hudspith of Dundas, and Gail (Jon) Pepper of Fenwick. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold, in 1991. Mom was a loving grandmother to Andrea Hudspith, Trevor (Breanne) Clark, Liam Pepper, Connor Pepper, Katie (Tom) Freure, and Megan (Greg) Rapp. She cherished her eight great grandchildren - Logan Nascimento; Theodore Clark; Brendan, Justin and Simon Rapp; Juliette, Adam and Mark Freure. Her dear sister, Clarice Kaye, predeceased her on February 4th, 2016. She is also survived by other extended family members.
Mom was an avid reader and a loyal Blue Jays’ fan. She was very interested in current affairs and history. As well she enjoyed scrapbooking, knitting, sewing and cooking. For many years Mom and Dad shared happy times together travelling and dancing. She was a member of Grace Anglican Church for over 88 years and found great strength through her faith. Prior to her illness, she was a resident of Ina Grafton Gage Village. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Rachel VanderMeer, Dr. Galina Arvinte and Sister Louise; as well as the staff at Ina Grafton Gage Village, Community Care Access Centre and 2-West Hotel Dieu Shaver.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Anglican Church, 238 Geneva Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. A reception will be held at the church, followed by the internment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hulse and English Funeral Home, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines.
