Passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018, in her 71st year. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Joan and Gordon Nixon, long time St. Catharines' residents. She was the cherished sister of Cathy McCallum (Don), fun Aunt to Keith (Franco), Scott (Victoria) and Neil (Katie), and great Auntie to Clementine, Milo and Gus. Nancy was a graduate of the Universities of Guelph (BA) and Western (BED), ON. As a young woman, she travelled the world before settling into careers that included teaching and a variety of office management positions. Summertimes were happily spent with family and friends at the family cottage on Balsam Lake. Nancy will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour, her spirit of misadventure and her generosity of heart. While residing at Garden City Manor, Nancy was the President of the Breakfast Club and an active member of the Handbell Chorus. Nancy's unique style, approach to life and her quick wit kept everyone entertained and on their toes, and for this and so much more, she was truly loved and will be greatly missed. A very special thanks to Nancy's treasured friend, Brenda, and to the exceptional staff at Garden City Manor whose support, compassion and quality care went above and beyond.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring, Nancy's favourite time of the year, on Saturday, April 21st at 2:00 p.m., at her favourite place, the Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre (2 North Service Road, St. Catharines). For those who wish, donations in Nancy's name to the Garden City Manor Residents' Council or the Gordon Nixon Teaching Trust OAC Alumni Foundation University of Guelph, would be gratefully appreciated by Nancy and her Family.
